Les Bois d'Angers is developed by architectural firms CALQ and Lina Ghotmeh Architecture is located in Angers, very close to one of the region’s largest natural parks.
It began with a national call for expressions of interest, organised by the PUCA (interministerial agency for urban planning, construction and architecture) and by the Association for the Development of Wood Buildings for Living ADVIBois.
It is a mixed-use programme including 75 apartments and a business local.
The project demonstrates not only a strong desire to blend into the surrounding environment, but also flexibility in terms of interior layout.
The structure is a mix between a base and concrete cores for rigidity and a post/beam system combined with non-load bearing wood-frame facades.
The tallest element will reach 35 m, which represents a real technical challenge.
